Collector value

  • The 1884-CC Morgan is one of the most common dates in the series, but it’s still sought after by collectors because of the “CC” mint mark.
  • Worn 1884 Carson City $1 coins are rare, but Mint State coins are more common and affordable.
  • Prooflike examples are typically worth more.
  • Buyers place a premium on examples still in their original government GSA packaging.

History

  • The Carson City Mint coined Morgans for only 13 years between 1878 and 1893.
  • Many Morgans were lost to the melting pot in the early 20th century.
